What are UTM parameters?
They are tags added to the end of a link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term). Analytics tools such as Google Analytics read them to report where each visit came from.
Which values should I use for Instagram?
A common setup is source "instagram", medium for the placement ("bio", "story", "dm" or "social"), and campaign for what you are promoting. Pick one spelling and keep it: analytics treats "Instagram" and "instagram" as different sources.
Do UTM tags change the page people see?
No. The page loads the same. Only your analytics reads the tags.
Is my link sent anywhere?
No. The link is built in your browser and never leaves it.
